WILLOWS MEDIA TEAM: FOOD CRITICS FOR STRATFORD U AVON COLLEGE
Our four year six reporters were invited to review some of the drinks served in SUAC's restaurant and cafe. As the children have been studying writing from food critics, this was a perfectly timed task as they were able to assess and anlayse the flavours with gourmet expertise. In the next couple of days their reviews will be shared with restaurant leaders and they will also be found on our website.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Alan Hastings, Director of Operations at SUAC and Betty Lafeurve, Senior Catering Supervisor. Betty stayed with the children and Mrs Herrero for the duration of the visit, introducing the group to the different brands and ranges on offer. The media group are considering running their own cafe in school, so we will continue these links with the college in order to learn as much as possible about catering, food and drink.
BRING THE PEACE ALIVE
On the 16th November at The Willows we had a performance from Playhouse Theatre from Birmingham enacted by the talented Juliette and Aarron.
The moving performance was exciting to watch. Lest We Forget was about a Sikh soldier who had lost his memory from shell shock. Luckily the he was aided by a kind nurse who was patient with Smaranjeet the soldier, who gradually regained his memory.
After the performance, The Willows Words team interviewed the actors. They discovered that Aaron has starred in Harry Potter, which was amazing. Juliette commented,
"I like going into other people's shoes and teaching children about World War 1."
