It's been another brilliant year of sport at The Willows, with children of all ages showing great enthusiasm and commitment towards many disciplines such as football, swimming and athletics to name a few.
It was a great season for the girls football team. With some fixtures cancelled due to adverse weather conditions the amount of opportunities to play competitively was limited. However, the highlights of the season came in the major tournaments. At the cluster schools 6-a-side tournament, the girls won 4 games and drew 2. This meant they progressed to the final where they finished as runners up, only losing out on penalties after a very even 0-0 score line in the final.
The girls also did brilliantly well to finish as runners up at the Stratford area 6-a-side tournament. This meant they qualified for the South Warwickshire regional finals, pitting their skills against the best schools in South Warwickshire. Once again the girls rose to the occasion and finished as...you guessed it, runners up. Well done everybody!
It was a brilliant athletics season which saw personal bests galore in many types of disciplines; sprints, long distance, high jump, long jump and throwing. Three of our children even qualified to represent the Stratford Area team at the South Warwickshire regional finals, helping the Stratford Area to victory! Also a big well done to all of the children (and staff) who turned out on 5 cold winters morning to test themselves at this years cross country meets.
Our team of 16 children represented the school amazingly well at the Stratford Swimming Gala, with 8 of them qualifying to represent the Stratford team at the regional finals. We had children finishing 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the bronze and silver finals and I'm very proud to announce that one of our Year six boys won the gold final!
