History is celebrated every year at the Shakespeare festival and The Willows has always had a special part to play because our school was founded by ‘Shakespeare’s Church’, Holy Trinity. But this year was special.
This year we were particularly privileged to be invited to the Sunday Shakespeare procession and service. The Willows and Kings Edward’s Grammar School carried vibrantly coloured banners emblazoned with Shakespearean quotations. The banners were carried right through the centre of the church, providing a striking introduction to the service, which included performances from the Royal Shakespeare Company. Our Willows Scholars could be seen in the choir stalls performing a newly commissioned piece, conducted by Benedict Wilson. It is wonderful to be able to celebrate The Willows rich historic heritage. Our motto is ‘Stratford Upon Avon is Our Campus’, and we will continue to capitalise on the great learning opportunities that this town of great culture and history provides.
