Welcome to Pandas Class
Welcome to 1T Pandas. This term's topic is 'Sunshine and Showers: Home and Away'. The main focus of our topic is comparing Australia and the United Kingdom, especially in terms of weather, animals and plants.
In Maths, we will be counting up to and back from 100. We will learn to identify one more and one less than any number to 100. We will also learn addition and subtraction of numbers up to 20, as well as the measurement of weight. We will learn to recognise all the coins from 1p up to £1. Besides working on our number bonds in class, we will also be doing our Number Club challenges at home and school.
In English, we will be covering a range of rich texts, for example, traditional fairy tales and various story books and information books about animals including crocodiles and wombats! We will be writing our own sentences and short stories. We will also continue our phonics [letter sounds] and practise cursive handwriting. Spellings will be set weekly on a Friday for the children to learn and we also expect the children to regularly read their school reading book.
Thanks to those parents who have volunteered time to help with reading. Your help is gratefully received!
If you'd like to meet to discuss any concerns or queries, please make an appointment to see us via the school office or telephone. Alternatively, please feel free to come and see one of us at the end of the school day to arrange a mutually convenient time and date.
